Manhattan misses America’s 20 most expensive zip codes for the first time

The luxury real estate market has remained resilient, with median house prices in the top 10 most expensive zip codes all exceeding the $ 4 million mark for the first time.
In addition, 30 of the country’s 100 most expensive zip codes posted a median price of over $ 3 million, up from 15 in 2020, according to the annual ranking released Tuesday by PropertyShark, a New York-based real estate data provider.
The report was based on residential transactions closed between January 1 and October 22. Due to multiple links, the ranking included a total of 127 zip codes this year. PropertyShark had been tracking the most expensive zip codes for years before starting to publish an annual ranking in 2016.
California accounted for 70% of the most expensive zip codes in the country, with 37% concentrated in the Bay Area alone.
Atherton’s 94027 has been rated the most expensive Zip for the fifth year in a row. The region’s median selling price in 2021 reached $ 7.5 million for the fifth year in a row, PropertyShark said.
New York State claimed 17 of the 100 most expensive postal codes, three fewer than last year. New York City, one of the most expensive housing markets in the world, had six zip codes on the list. However, none have reached the top 20 this year for the first time, according to the report.
New York City’s two main zip codes were Manhattan’s 10013 and 10007, claiming numbers 22 and 25 with a median selling price of $ 3.2 million and $ 3.1 million, respectively.
For the fifth year in a row, San Francisco had the highest concentration of expensive zip codes of any city, accounting for seven of the top 100. Los Angeles and New York were tied for second, each claiming six.
Nationally, Boston’s 02199 became the second most expensive zip with a median selling price of $ 5.5 million. It was followed by Sagaponack, the 11962 from New York, with a median selling price of $ 5 million.
Overall, 10 states provided at least one of the top 100 most expensive zip codes in the country, according to the report.
